I work as an assistant manager in the compliance group on the sixth floor of the towers here in Bandra East. Being in the BKC area of Mumbai, it’s always incredibly busy outside. The building is quite large and there are many floors of people doing various things. Up here on the sixth floor, we focus on the rules and regulations. My desk is usually covered in folders and various reports that need checking. It’s not the most exciting work for everyone, but it’s what we do. The view from the window is mostly other office buildings and a lot of construction. We have a small canteen where we get our tea and sometimes a quick snack. The elevators are fast but they get packed during the lunch hour. It’s a very professional environment, though it can get a bit noisy with everyone talking on the phones. We have meetings in small rooms that sometimes feel a bit stuffy. Most of us spend our day staring at screens and making sure all the boxes are ticked correctly. It’s a long commute for most people, given how Mumbai traffic is. We try to leave on time but sometimes the work keeps us a bit later. It’s a massive operation here and we are just one small part of it. We don't really see many customers in person on this floor; it’s mostly internal work for the bank. We just focus on the details and try to keep everything in order.
