Harman Electrical Engineering Works

Working out of Anand Parbat Gali No 9 is definitely an experience because it’s so tight and crowded with other workshops. We are at B 29 and most days it’s pretty loud with all the machines running and people shouting over the noise. Harman Electrical Engineering Works has been tucked away in this lane for a while and we’ve gotten used to the rhythm of the place. There’s always trucks trying to back into the narrow street and getting stuck which makes for some interesting mornings. Inside it’s mostly just shelves full of parts and half-finished projects sitting on the benches. It’s not a showroom so don’t expect everything to be polished or clean. There is oil on the floor and the walls could probably use a new coat of paint but we are too busy to worry about that. My hands are usually dirty by ten in the morning and they stay that way until I go home. We have a small kettle for tea that we keep in the corner because you need a break every now and then when the heat gets bad. Gali No 9 isn't the easiest place to find if you aren't from around here but once you've been here once you remember the way. It’s a tough environment but it’s where we do our work without any fuss. We just get on with the repairs and the engineering stuff and try to keep things moving.
