Handloom Junction

You can find Handloom Junction over at Shop No 5, 35 F Block in Krishna Nagar. It’s a lively spot and the shop is usually packed with different fabrics and rolls of cloth. We don't have one of those modern, minimalist stores. Ours is more of a place where things are stacked high and you have to move a few things to see everything we have. The smell of the handloom cotton is the first thing you notice when you walk in. It’s a very specific scent that reminds you of how things used to be made. We spend a lot of time sorting through the stock and making sure the shelves are as organized as they can be, though it’s a bit of a losing battle sometimes. Krishna Nagar is always full of people, so there’s a lot of chatter coming from the street. We sit on small stools and talk to whoever walks in, whether they are looking for something specific or just taking a look at the colors. It’s a simple shop and we like it that way. We don't do fancy displays or have bright neon signs. It’s just the fabrics and us in Shop No 5. Sometimes we get new shipments in and the whole floor gets covered in bags until we can put them away. It’s a bit messy but it’s a real working shop where we care about the cloth.
