Gopal Iron Store

Our shop is right on Gali No. 1 along the 33 Ft. Road. If you know the area, you know how busy it gets near the Ramleela Ground. There is always something going on outside, especially when there is a festival or a local market day. The iron business is loud and heavy. You spend your whole day hearing the clanging of metal against metal as we move stock around the floor. It is a dusty job, and by the time evening rolls around, our clothes are usually covered in that fine orange rust dust. We have been in Karawal Nagar for a good bit of time now. The shop is pretty basic, just a lot of iron rods and sheets stacked up wherever they will fit. We keep a small wooden desk near the front where we track everything in a thick paper ledger. The tea seller from down the street comes by twice a day, and that is usually when we take a second to breathe. The 33 Ft. Road is narrow enough that things get jammed up when a big truck comes to drop off a load, but we manage. Most of our customers are just local guys building houses or fixing up gates. We talk about the weather or the traffic while we cut the iron to the right size. It is honest work, even if it is noisy and leaves us tired at night.
