Alokik Art Resource

Up here in Ashok Nagar, at Shop B 262 on Gali Number 7, you’ll find Alokik Art Resource. We’re right off the Main Mandoli Road, not too far from the Shahdara side of things. The shop is usually a bit of a mess because we handle so many different things. There are stacks of thick paper, tubes of color that sometimes leak, and rolls of canvas leaning against the walls. We don't have much of a sign out front, just the address and the name. People usually find us when they’re looking for something specific for a project or if they just like to paint at home. The light isn’t great in the back of the shop, so we often take things out to the front door to see the real color in the daylight. It gets busy when the local school kids have their art exams coming up. We spend a lot of time helping people pick out the right charcoal or pens. There’s a tea stall nearby that brings over cups throughout the day, so there’s usually an empty glass sitting on the counter somewhere. The shelves are wooden and look like they’ve been there since the building was put up. We don't do anything fancy here, just sell the supplies that artists and students keep asking for. It’s a bit cramped when more than three people are inside at once, but we manage fine.
