Gharaunda

Gharaunda is our little spot in the Wazirpur Shiv Market, over in Ashok Vihar 7. If you know the Wazirpur area, you know it's always packed with people and rickshaws. Our shop is tucked into the Shiv Market section. It's a lively place, maybe a bit too loud for some, but we like the energy of it. We've been here for a while now, and we know most of the other shopkeepers around us. The space is small and every inch is filled with something. We don't have a lot of room for a fancy layout, so things are just stacked where they fit. You have to walk through the narrow lanes to get to us, which can be a bit of a squeeze on busy Saturdays. My days are mostly spent talking to people who drop in and managing the stock. It’s a lot of standing around and moving boxes. The tea seller comes by twice a day, which is usually the highlight of the afternoon. We don't really do much online stuff; we just open the shutters in the morning and wait for people to come by. Ashok Vihar has changed quite a bit since we started, but the market still feels the same. It’s an honest way to make a living. We just focus on keeping the shop running and making sure the people who come in find what they need in the piles. It’s a crowded shop, but we know where everything is kept.
