Foundation For Public Economics And Policy Research

We are located in Delhi, though we don't have a big flashy sign on a main road. Our foundation focuses on economics and policy research, which mostly means we spend a lot of time reading and writing. The office is usually quiet, filled with the sound of keyboards and the turning of pages. It’s a very academic environment, but without the university feel. We don't have a lot of visitors, so it's mostly just us and our stacks of reports. Delhi is a loud and chaotic city, but once you step inside our space, it feels a lot calmer. We don't use a lot of big words to explain our existence. We just look at the data and try to make sense of what’s happening in the public sector. The furniture is a bit old, and we have bookshelves that are overflowing with papers we probably should have filed away years ago. We don't have a mission statement on the wall or anything like that. We just come in every morning, make some tea, and get to work on whatever research is on the desk. It’s a modest way to contribute to the field. Some days are more productive than others, but we keep showing up. It’s not a high-pressure corporate job. It’s more about the slow process of studying and thinking about how things work in the economy. We've been here for a while now.
