You can find the Embassy Of Denmark in a bit of an unexpected spot, over at 15 Kala Vihar Apartments. This is in Mayur Vihar Phase I Extension in Delhi, 110 091. It is a residential complex, so it doesn’t look like those big embassies you see in the center of the city with the massive flags and guards in fancy uniforms. Here, we are just part of the neighborhood. We share the space with families who have lived here for years. Every morning, we walk through the same gates as everyone else. The office is set up inside one of the apartments, so it has a very lived-in feel to it. We handle the paperwork and the official business at regular desks in rooms that used to be bedrooms or living areas. It makes the workday feel a bit more grounded and less stiff. There’s no huge cafeteria, so we usually just bring our own lunch or get something from the local market nearby. People in the building know who we are, but we don't make a big deal out of it. We just go about our business quietly. It’s a practical way to run things, and it keeps us connected to the everyday life of Delhi instead of being stuck in a diplomatic bubble. It's just a small team of us here, doing the work that needs to be done. The security guards at the main gate are used to seeing us by now.
