Devki Enterprises

Our business, Devki Enterprises, is up on the second floor at Chah Indara, number 2060 8 near Ajmeri Gate. It is a very old part of the city, and the streets are always packed with people, carts, and rickshaws. Our space is basically a big warehouse with a small area for us to sit and do the paperwork. We spend our days moving boxes and talking to suppliers on the phone. It’s a lot of physical work, especially since everything has to go up and down those narrow stairs. We’ve been here for years, and we know everyone else on the floor. It’s a loud environment, but you get used to the sounds of the market after a while. We don’t have a fancy office with air conditioning or nice furniture. It’s just a place where we get the job done. My brother handles the deliveries and I take care of the orders. We don't use any fancy software; a lot of our notes are still written by hand in big ledgers. It’s an honest way to make a living, and we’ve built a lot of trust with our customers over the years. The walls are a bit stained and the floor is uneven, but it works for us. We just keep moving and making sure our clients get what they need when they need it. It gets really hot in the summer, so we have a couple of old fans that just barely keep the air moving. We hope the monsoon brings some relief soon.
