Deshraj

Down here at Tis Hazari, things are always moving fast. My place, Deshraj, is tucked away on Tehsil Lane at T 20. It is a tight spot but it works for what we do every day. People come by the lane all the time because of the courts and everything else going on nearby. I’ve been working from this small space for years now and I know most of the guys running the shops around me. We don’t have fancy chairs or a big waiting room. It is just a desk, some papers, and the work that needs to get done before the sun goes down. Sometimes the noise from the street gets a bit loud, but you get used to it after a week or two. If you are looking for T 20, just keep walking down the lane until you see the old door. I try to stay organized but sometimes the piles of work get a bit high. It’s a family thing, really. My uncle used to be in this area too. We don’t spend money on big signs or ads. Word gets around if you just do what you say you’re going to do. The tea stall at the corner is where I usually am if I’m not at the desk. Life at Tis Hazari is a lot of walking and talking. That’s just the way it is here. It is not much, but it is honest and it keeps the kitchen fire burning.
