I've been working down here at Delhi G P O T-2-147 for a good while now. Dealing with tin and metal isn't the cleanest job, but it’s what we do at Delhi Tin Met Limited. Most mornings start early, usually before the sun gets too high, because the workshop gets hot. We handle a lot of different orders. Sometimes people just need a small bit of metal cut, other times it’s a big stack of sheets for a roof or some industrial thing. We just get on with it. The noise from the cutting machines is constant, and you sort of get used to the smell of grease and iron after a few years. It’s a busy spot. People drop by the office at T-2-147 to check on their orders or just to see if we have something specific in stock. My desk is usually covered in scraps of paper and old invoices. We don’t have fancy chairs or a lobby. It’s just a place where work gets done. My hands are usually stained with something or other by lunchtime. The guys in the back have been here forever. We know the neighbors and the delivery drivers who struggle with the narrow turns around the G P O area. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s honest. We try to keep things organized, even if it looks a bit messy to an outsider. We just make sure the metal gets where it needs to go.
