Deepak Movie Palace

This place has been in Shahdara for a long time. We’re tucked away in Pocket M N, specifically at Janta Flat A 2 on the Main Road. It’s a local spot where people come to catch a show when they have some free time on the weekends. The building is older, and you can tell it’s seen a lot of crowds over the years by the way the steps are worn down. We keep the projectors running and the seats mostly clean, though the floor gets a bit sticky after a busy Sunday. It’s not like those big multiplexes in the malls. It’s more of a neighborhood thing where people recognize each other. I spend most of my time in the booth or checking the tickets at the front gate. The snacks are simple—popcorn, some cold drinks, and local chips that we buy from the market nearby. The neighborhood around Janta Flat is always loud and full of life, which I like. Sometimes the sound from the street drifts in during the quiet scenes, but nobody seems to mind much. We show whatever is popular, mostly the big hits that everyone wants to see. It’s a lot of work keeping an old cinema going, especially with all the new technology changing so fast every year. I grew up coming to places like this, so running one feels right to me. If you’re around Shahdara, you’ve probably walked past us.
