Deepak Book Depot

Deepak Book Depot is tucked away in Sanjay Market, which is right near the old Kala Mandir Cinema in Mangolpuri. If you know the area, you know it’s always crowded and there’s a lot of noise from the street. We’ve been here in D 21 for a long time, surrounded by piles of books and paper. It’s a bit cramped inside because we try to keep a lot of stuff on the shelves for whoever comes in. Usually, it’s students or parents looking for something specific for school. I spend most of my day just organizing things or helping someone find a particular pen or notebook. The cinema nearby isn't what it used to be, but it’s still a good landmark for people trying to find us. The market gets really hectic on the weekends, and sometimes it’s hard to even move through the aisles here. I wouldn't say we have a system that makes sense to everyone, but I know where everything is. It’s a simple life, just opening up in the morning and staying until the market starts to quiet down at night. We don’t do any big advertising or anything. People just know we are here because we’ve been here. Sometimes the tea stall guy brings over a glass and we just watch the people go by for a minute. It is just a regular local book shop that serves the Delhi G P O area.
