Deepak Arora

I am Deepak Arora and I spend most of my days at Tis Hazari, specifically in room number 122. If you’ve ever been to the courts here in Delhi, you know how chaotic it can be. There are people everywhere, and the hallways are always full of life and a bit of dust. My space in 122 is quite small, but it’s where all the work happens. I have an old wooden desk that’s seen better days and shelves that are literally groaning under the weight of all the law books and case files. It’s not a polished corporate environment. It’s a place where we drink a lot of tea and spend hours reading through documents. The windows don’t always open properly, and the ceiling fan makes a rhythmic clicking sound that I’ve grown used to. Most of the people who come to see me are looking for some help with their legal matters, and they usually find me sitting behind a mountain of paper. Tis Hazari is a maze, but once you find your way to 122, it’s a bit quieter than the main corridors. I’ve been working from this spot for a long time. I don't really believe in making things look fancier than they are. It’s a practical room for a practical job. We just try to get through the daily cause list and handle whatever comes our way. The tea man comes by every few hours, and that’s usually when we take a short break.
