Deepak Agnihotri Bhajan Singar

I am Deepak Agnihotri and I do bhajan singing here in Gokul Puri. My place is in Sadatpur Extension, specifically Gali Number 3. If you come looking for me, you’ll probably hear some music before you see the door. I’ve spent years practicing my singing right here in this room. It’s not a professional studio with soundproofing, just a regular space with my harmonium and some rugs on the floor. The neighborhood is pretty tight-knit, so everyone knows when I’m rehearsing for a program. Sometimes the neighbors’ kids come and sit by the window to listen. Gali Number 3 can be a bit narrow, so if you’re driving a big car, you might have trouble getting all the way in. I spend a lot of my time traveling to different temples and family functions, but this is where I come back to rest and prepare my voice. I keep my instruments in one corner and my old notebooks full of lyrics in another. The fans in this part of Sadatpur Extension sometimes struggle in the summer heat, but we make do. Singing bhajans is just what I do, and I’ve been doing it since I was quite young. It’s honest work and it keeps me busy most weekends and festival days. Usually, I’m just here organizing my schedule and making sure my gear is ready for the next event. There is always a lot of planning involved for the big puja seasons.
