You can find us over at Decent Furniture Decorators on Jail Road in Janakpuri, specifically at BF 3. This area is always buzzing with people and traffic, which keeps things interesting for us. Our shop is filled with the smell of cut wood and the sight of different fabrics piled up on the benches. We spend most of our time taking old pieces of furniture and trying to make them useful again, or working on new bits that people have asked for. It’s a lot of manual labor, sanding down surfaces and getting the padding just right. We aren’t big on fancy showrooms; we prefer people to see the actual work being done right there in the shop. Sometimes the place gets a bit disorganized when we have three or four projects going at once, but we always know where everything is. The locals in Janakpuri know where to find us if they need a chair fixed or a new cupboard made. We’ve lived and worked in this part of Delhi for a long time, so we’ve seen the streets change while we just keep doing our thing. It’s not always easy, especially when the weather is humid and the wood acts up, but we manage to get through the pile of work. We just like working with our hands and seeing something finished at the end of a long day. It’s steady work that keeps us on our toes.
