Data Operator

Basti Nizamuddin is a place with so much history and noise, and our little spot at number 22 is right in the middle of all that life. As a data operator here, the day starts with the smell of food from the local stalls and the sound of people walking through the narrow lanes. The office itself is quite small, tucked away where you wouldn't expect to find a computer setup. We spend our hours typing out records and managing digital files on old desks that have seen better days. The walls are a bit dusty, and the stairs up to the room are steep, but it’s home for us during the day. You can hear the calls from the street and the birds on the roof while we work. We don't have fancy office chairs or air conditioning that works perfectly, but we have a good internet connection most of the time. It’s just a simple job of looking at papers and putting that information into the system. Sometimes people from the neighborhood pop their heads in just to say hello or ask a quick question. We don’t do big presentations or anything like that. It’s just steady work, one line at a time, until the sun goes down and the Basti gets even busier. It’s a real, grounded way to earn a living, surrounded by the old buildings and the constant movement of the city right outside our door.
