Our lab is situated on the second floor of C 316 in Shaheen Bagh, which is right in the Jamia Nagar part of Okhla. Danish Ahmad Khan is the one who keeps things running here, and you can usually find him or one of the staff buried in paperwork or checking on the equipment. It’s a busy part of Delhi, so there is always a lot of noise coming up from the street, even on the second floor. The lab itself is kept as clean as we can manage, which is a bit of a challenge with all the dust in the city. We have our mobile number listed because someone is almost always on the move, either getting supplies or delivering results. It’s not a huge space, but we’ve squeezed in everything we need to do our testing and research. There are a lot of shelves filled with glass jars and boxes that only we know the order of. Working in Okhla means you're always around people, and we have a lot of locals dropping in with questions. We try to be helpful without getting too bogged down in the technical side of things when we talk. It’s a lot of long hours under those bright fluorescent lights, but the work is important to us. We’ve been here long enough that the postman doesn't even need to look at the building number anymore.
