Citibank

Our spot is at Flat No 3 in the Suraiya Apartments on Pochkanwala Road. Being in Worli, Mumbai, means there is always something going on outside, but inside the office, it’s mostly just the sound of typing and the hum of the air conditioner. This Citibank office is tucked away in a residential building, which makes it feel a bit more low-key than the big glass towers you see elsewhere in the city. We spend our days going through stacks of applications and updating records for our clients. It’s not glamorous work, but it’s what keeps the system running. Sometimes we have to stay late to finish up the day’s ledger, especially when there’s a lot of activity in the markets. We know the security guard at the gate and the folks who live upstairs, so it feels like a small community. When someone walks in, they’re usually looking for help with a transfer or a lost statement. We don’t use a lot of big words or fancy talk; we just sit down and see what needs to be fixed. It gets a bit cramped when we have a lot of files, but we keep things as tidy as we can. Working in Worli has its perks, like being close to the sea, but mostly we’re just focused on the desk in front of us. It’s a straightforward setup for a straightforward job, and we’re fine with that.
