Wazirpur Industrial Area is a loud place to work, and A-90 is where we spend our days. Chawla Polymers has been running out of this unit for quite some time now. You can hear the hum of the machinery as soon as you turn onto the lane. It’s a lot of heat and the smell of raw materials being processed, but you get used to it after a week or so. We make various polymer products and the floor is always covered in scraps or bins waiting to be moved. It’s not a clean office job. We wear old clothes because everything gets covered in dust and grease anyway. The trucks come in through the narrow gates and there’s always a bit of shouting to get them parked right. We don't have a fancy lobby for visitors. If you come by, you’ll probably just meet us near the loading dock or in the small cabin we use for accounts. It’s a lot of hard work and the shifts can be long when we have a big deadline to meet. We just keep the machines running and try to make sure nothing breaks down in the middle of a run. Chawla is usually around making sure the workers are doing okay and the material is arriving on time. It’s just a factory life in the heart of Wazirpur. We usually eat our lunch sitting on the crates outside if the weather is okay.
