Chander Prakash Chawla

Out here in Pitampura, specifically at RU Market 13, things stay pretty constant. My name is Chander Prakash Chawla and this is where I spend most of my daylight hours. The market has its own rhythm, you know? It starts slow with the tea stalls opening up and then picks up pace by noon. My space isn't very big, but it’s enough to hold everything I need. I’ve got some old chairs for when people want to sit and talk, and the walls are mostly covered with files and notes I’ve pinned up over the years. Some days are busier than others. Some Tuesdays I might just sit and read the paper for an hour because it’s quiet, and then Wednesday everyone shows up at once. That's just how it goes in a place like this. I don't really bother with big signs or flashy lights. People in this part of Pitampura know where RU Market is, and they know shop number 13. It’s an honest way to make a living. I try to keep things organized, but honestly, there's always a bit of clutter on my desk. It feels more like home that way. I’ve seen the neighborhood change a lot since I started, more cars now and more noise, but the shop stays pretty much the same. I like the routine of it. Opening the shutters, checking the mail, and seeing who walks through the door next to ask about our items.
