Working at the Centre For Monitoring Indian Economy means we are right in the middle of everything at Connaught Place. Our office is at Kasturba Ganghi Marg, number 906. Being on the ninth floor gives us a pretty good view of the traffic and the rooftops of Delhi. It’s a busy place with a lot of energy. We have rows and rows of desks where people sit staring at computer screens for hours, looking at numbers and charts and trying to make sense of the data. The office is always full of the sound of people talking on the phone with clients or the constant, fast clicking of keyboards in every room. Since we are in CP, the commute is actually pretty easy because the metro station is just a short walk away, though it also means the streets outside are always packed with crowds. We don't really have much in the way of decoration on the walls; it’s mostly just metal shelves full of old reports and heavy data files from years ago. It’s a very practical environment where the only real focus is on getting the numbers right and making sure the files are saved correctly. During the lunch hour, most of us head down to find something to eat from the local vendors. The elevators in this building can be a bit slow, so you usually have to leave a few minutes early if you want to be on time. It’s a fast-paced way to spend the day.
