Brijendra Singh

I am Brijendra Singh, and my daily life mostly revolves around the Tis Hazari Court complex. It is a massive place, and if you aren't familiar with it, you can easily get lost in the different blocks and floors. I spend my hours navigating these hallways and spending time in the courtrooms or at my designated spot. The air is always thick with the sound of people talking and the clatter of old typewriters that some people still use. My workspace is functional and a bit cramped, as space is at a premium here. I have piles of folders that I keep tied with red string, just like everyone else. The lighting inside isn't the best, so I have a small desk lamp that helps me read the fine print on legal documents. I've grown used to the constant movement and the way the building stays warm even when the fans are spinning. It's a tough environment but it's where the real work happens. I usually eat a quick tiffin lunch at my desk or standing up if I'm in a hurry to catch a hearing. I've met a lot of different people in these halls over the years. It's not a glamorous job, and the court building itself shows its age, but it’s where I belong. You learn to appreciate the small bits of quiet you get when a court session ends early and the corridors finally start to empty out for the day.
