Brij Raj Kawadi

Brij Raj Kawadi is based in the Kishangarh area of Vasant Kunj, specifically at address 73/9. This isn't what you would call a fancy business by any means. We deal with scrap material, old newspapers, empty glass bottles, and all sorts of bits of metal. People from the nearby houses bring us the stuff they don't want anymore, or I go out with my cart sometimes to collect things from the lanes. The yard is usually full of things that most people would call junk, but I see it as my daily work. It involves a lot of heavy lifting and sorting through big piles of stuff to find what can be sold again. The weather is always our biggest challenge; when it rains, everything gets very messy and we have to quickly cover the paper stacks with large plastic sheets. I’ve been doing this for many years here in Vasant Kunj. It’s hard physical work and my clothes are always a bit dirty and dusty by the end of the day. I have a big weighing scale that’s seen better days, but it still works perfectly fine for our needs. People come here to haggle over the price of old iron or plastic. I try to be as fair as I can with the rates. It's just me and a couple of helpers who handle all the loading and unloading of the trucks.
