Bhavishya Kathan

Walking down Nehru Road, you’ll see plenty of shops, but Bhavishya Kathan is a bit tucked away at number 41. Adarsh Nagar is a lively area, and I like being right in the middle of it. I’ve lived around here for twenty years, so I know the shortcuts and the best places for a quick bite. The office is just one main room. I’ve decorated it with things I’ve collected—some old photos, a brass lamp, and a very old clock that chimes every hour. It’s a bit loud, but it keeps me on track. People come to Bhavishya Kathan when they feel stuck. I don’t promise to fix everything, but I listen and I look at what the charts say. It’s a quiet kind of work. I usually start the day around nine, after the traffic has settled a bit. The walls are painted a soft cream color, though there’s a water stain in the corner from a leak we had last monsoon. I haven’t gotten around to painting over it yet. It’s just part of the room now. My neighbor from the hardware shop often drops by to chat. We talk about the news or the weather. Then someone knocks on the door, and I get back to work. It’s a simple life. No big fancy promises, just a seat at the table and some time to talk about what’s coming next. The chair I use is a bit squeaky, but it's comfortable enough.
