Our office is right there in the Babarpur Office Compound, near the Sub Registrar at L M Bund 8. Since we are so close to the registrar, we stay pretty busy with paperwork all day long. It is a lot of typing and double-checking names and dates. The building is an older one, so the walls are a bit thin and you can hear the birds on the roof. We mostly help people with their documents, making sure everything is filled out so they don't get turned away. It’s not exciting work, but it needs to get done. My desk is covered in stamps and ink pads that I’ve had for a decade. Sometimes the queues outside get long, and people come in here looking a bit stressed out. We just try to get the forms sorted as fast as we can. It’s a small team here, just three of us usually. We drink a lot of coffee to stay sharp with all the fine print. Sometimes the printer jams right when we're in a hurry, which is always how it goes. We don’t have a website or anything like that. People just know where we are. We've been here long enough that the guards at the gate know us by name. The wooden chairs for visitors are a bit hard, but they do the job. We keep a stack of extra pens in the drawer because people always forget theirs.
