Bakelite House is a small shop located at 230B in Pocket No 1 of Mayur Vihar Phase I. We handle items made from bakelite, which is a sturdy, old-fashioned kind of plastic. You’ll find a lot of electrical components, knobs, and handles inside our glass counters. The shop isn't very big, so every inch of shelf space is used for something. I usually get here in the morning and spend some time wiping down the glass and organizing the small drawers where we keep the tiniest parts. Mayur Vihar is a nice area, and our shop is in a relatively quiet spot compared to the main market. I like the routine of it. Most of the people who come in are looking for something specific that they can't find in the bigger hardware stores. I spend a lot of time chatting with regular customers about their home repairs or the projects they are working on. The wooden cabinets I use for storage have been here since we opened, and they’ve got a lot of character now. Sometimes, when it's quiet, I just sit by the door and watch the people walking their dogs or going to the park. It’s a peaceful way to run a business. I don't need a huge staff or a big warehouse, just this small corner in Pocket No 1 to keep things going. It's a simple, honest way to make a living for myself and my family.
