Bake King is over at Shop No.-4 in Vasundhara Enclave. We get here pretty early when it is still dark outside to get the ovens going. By the time the sun is up, the whole place smells like bread and sugar. It is a small shop but we keep it busy. We do mostly local stuff for the people living in the enclave. You’ll see neighbors coming in for a loaf of bread or maybe some biscuits for their tea. We don't have a big fancy staff or a marketing team. It’s just us back there mixing dough and making sure nothing burns. The flour gets everywhere, on our clothes and on the floor, no matter how much we clean. Vasundhara Enclave is a nice enough area, and we’ve gotten to know the families who live around here. They stop by to see what’s fresh. Sometimes a cake doesn't look perfect, but it tastes fine, so we just sell it as it is. We aren't trying to be some high-end pastry shop. We just make basic things that people like to eat. The days are long because you can't rush baking. You have to wait for the dough to rise and the oven to get to the right heat. It's a lot of standing around and watching the clock. But we like it well enough and it keeps us busy through the week.
