Atul Kharb

If you ever find yourself walking down Delhi High Court Main Road near number 262, you’ll probably see where Atul Kharb is based. It’s a very busy part of the city. There are always people rushing around with folders under their arms and cars honking at each other. Being on the main road means we see everything that happens throughout the day. The office is a practical one. It has to be, given where we are. We don't have time for a lot of extras. Inside, it smells a bit like old paper and ink, which is pretty standard for this neighborhood. We have a few chairs for guests, though they usually don't stay long because everyone is in a hurry around the court. The windows let in a lot of light, but they also let in the sounds of the traffic, so it’s never truly silent here. We’ve gotten used to the hum of the city. It’s part of the job. Our shelves are packed tight with different things we’ve collected over the years. It might look a little disorganized to an outsider, but we know exactly where everything is. We don’t use any fancy tech if a simple pen and paper will do the trick. It’s a straightforward way of working that has served us well so far. We just stay focused on the work at hand and ignore the chaos outside.
