Ashwani Kaushik

My place, Ashwani Kaushik, is right on Greater Kailash Main Road at C 134. If you know the area, you know how hectic the main road can get with all the cars and people walking by. Being located here means there’s always something to look at out the window. The office isn’t huge, but it fits everything I need to get through the day. I’ve spent a lot of years in this building, watching the shops nearby change hands while I just keep doing my thing. The stairs are a bit steep, so I tell everyone to watch their step when they come up. Inside, it’s mostly just shelves full of files and a couple of old desks that have seen better days. I don’t believe in having a fancy waiting room or anything like that. If someone stops by, they usually just grab a plastic chair and we talk. It’s a straightforward way of doing business. Some days are slow and I just read the paper or clean up the files, while other days everyone seems to want something at the exact same time. That’s just how it goes on Main Road. I like the noise of the city; it makes the day go by faster. I’ve lived in Delhi long enough to appreciate a steady spot like this one. It’s a practical space for practical work, nothing more and nothing less.
