Bajrangi Bazar in Ghonda is always a mess of people and noise. That is where you will find Ashok Kumar Gupta's place. We are right in the thick of the market. It is loud from the moment we open until the moment we shut the doors at night. We have a small shop that we've used for years. It's packed with stuff from floor to ceiling. There isn't much room to move around, but we have a system that works for us. We don't have a big staff, just a couple of us who know where everything is kept. If someone asks for something, we can usually find it in a minute or two. We don't do any big advertising. In a place like Bajrangi Bazar, you don't need it. People just see you as they are doing their daily shopping. We have a lot of regular customers who have been coming to us for a long time. They don't want anything fancy; they just want to be treated fairly. We don't use any slick marketing talk. We just tell people the price and what we can do. Sometimes we sit on stools outside the front when it's not too busy. It's a good way to see who is passing by. The rain can be a problem because the street gets muddy, but we just put some cardboard down and keep going. It's a busy life, but it's our life and we like it.
