Arihant Jain

My name is Arihant Jain and I run this little shop in the Azad Market. The shop number is 9888, and we are right in the Nawab Ganj section. If you have ever been to the big markets in Delhi, you know exactly how crowded and loud it gets around here every single day. It is a small shop, but we manage to pack a huge amount of stock into it. I have been sitting in this same spot for more years than I can count. The walls are completely covered with wooden shelves that go all the way up to the ceiling. Most of the time, it is just me here, or maybe one helper if it’s a busy season. We sell all sorts of items that people in the market are looking for. We don't have any air conditioning, just an old ceiling fan that makes a lot of noise. Customers come in and we talk and haggle over prices, and that is just how we do things in Nawab Ganj. It is a very old part of the city, and the streets are so narrow that you can't even get a car through most of them. We don't have a website or a logo or anything like that. People know us because we have been here forever. I write all my daily accounts in a thick paper ledger by hand. It’s just a simple life with real people. Nothing is polished or fake about how we run things here in Azad Market.
