Anurag Sarees

Running Anurag Sarees in the Bhajanpura Main Market is always a busy job. We are located at C 103 and there is always something happening right outside our door. The market gets very crowded, especially in the evenings, so we are used to the noise and the people passing by. Inside the shop, we have stacks of sarees everywhere. It’s a bit of a squeeze sometimes when we get several people in at once. We don't have a big fancy showroom with lights and air conditioning that works all the time. It’s just a regular shop where we keep the stock on the shelves and show it to anyone who walks in. My family has been around this part of Bhajanpura for a long time. We know the other shopkeepers and the people who live in the lanes behind the main market. Sometimes it gets dusty because of the road work, but we just keep cleaning the counters. We don't really do big sales or have glossy catalogs. We just show what we have in the bundles. Usually, the morning starts with opening the shutters and dusting off the displays. By lunchtime, the market is in full swing. We take turns eating in the back room. It’s a simple life here at C 103. We just focus on the clothes and making sure the shop stays open for whoever needs something for a wedding or a party. There is always some new stock to unpack.
