Hardhian Singh Road is always moving, and that’s where you’ll find me at number 2230. My name is Anurag Ahluwalia and I’ve been set up here in Karol Bagh for a long time. This area is famous for being crowded, and my spot is no different. It’s an old building, but it has character and stays relatively cool even when the Delhi sun is beating down on the pavement outside. I spend a lot of time on the phone or talking to people who drop in from the street. The address 2230 is right in the thick of things. Sometimes it’s hard to find parking nearby, so most people just walk over from the main market area. Inside, things are pretty straightforward. I have a big wooden desk that’s been here since I started, and a few filing cabinets that are starting to show their age. We don’t do things the high-tech way if we can help it. There’s something better about writing things down on paper. The staff is just a couple of guys who have been with me for years. We know the neighbors and we know the rhythms of Karol Bagh. It’s not the kind of place where you’ll find fancy coffee or leather couches. Just a plain office where we put in the hours and make sure everything is sorted out properly before we lock up the shop for the night.
