Universel Garments

Our shop is actually three units joined together, numbers 29, 30, and 31, inside the Capri Trade Centre here in Dehradun. We’re right across from the big L.I.C. building, which is how most people find their way to us. Dehradun is a bit different from the plains; the air is nicer but the business is still just as busy. We’ve been at Universel Garments for a while, just trying to provide decent clothes for the local people. Having three shop spaces gives us a bit more room to breathe, but it also means more floor to sweep and more shelves to keep organized. It’s a lot of manual work, honestly. We don’t have a fancy website or a marketing team telling us what to do. We just look at what people are wearing in the streets and try to stock things that fit that style. The trade centre gets quite lively in the evenings when everyone finishes work at the offices nearby. We see a lot of the same faces every month. It’s nice to have that kind of connection with the people who shop here. We just try to be honest about what we have and keep the prices where they should be. It isn’t about being the most famous shop in Dehradun, just about being reliable for the people who walk through our doors.
