Our place is right on Rajpur Road. It’s a good spot because there’s always people passing by. We work with clothes, mostly getting things ready to be sold or sent out to customers. You can usually hear the sewing machines humming if you come near the back of the shop. It’s a sound we’ve gotten used to over the years. The shop floor is always covered in bits of thread and fabric scraps. We try to sweep up, but as soon as we do, more appears. That's just how it goes with garments. There’s about five or six of us here most days. We drink a lot of tea to keep going through the afternoon. Rajpur Road has changed quite a bit lately, with more shops opening up around us. We’ve stayed in the same spot, though. We don't have a big window display or anything flashy to look at. People mostly find us through word of mouth or just because they’ve seen us here for many years. We spend a lot of time checking the stitching and making sure the sizes are correct. It’s repetitive work, but we take pride in not making too many mistakes. Sometimes we stay late when a big order needs to go out by morning. We just put some music on the radio and get it done. It's a simple business, really. We make clothes, and we do it right here on this street. We don't try to make it more complicated than that.
