Maithani M.P.

Hardwar Road is a busy stretch of tarmac in Dehradun. That is where you will find me, Maithani M.P., at our local spot. The traffic is almost constant, especially during the peak hours when everyone is trying to get across town. My office is tucked away just enough so the noise isn't too bad, but you still feel the energy of the city. I’ve been here for a good amount of time now. The interior is pretty basic. I have a few wooden chairs for visitors and a sturdy desk that has seen better days. The walls are mostly bare, except for a calendar and a few notes pinned up. I like the 248001 area because everything is close by. If I need something from the market, it’s just a short walk away. Most people who drop in are locals who have lived here as long as I have. We spend a lot of time just chatting about how the city has changed over the years. Dehradun used to be much quieter, but that's progress for you. I try to keep my workspace tidy, but with all the books and ledgers, it gets a bit cluttered. It doesn't bother me much. It feels lived-in. When the sun starts to set, the light comes through the front window at a sharp angle, and that is usually my signal to start wrapping things up for the day.
