Banik Metal Store is right on Hill Cart Road in the Alupatty area of Darjeeling. If you know the hills, you know how busy Hill Cart Road gets with all the tourists and the locals moving about. It is often foggy or raining outside, which makes the metal inside the shop feel quite cold to the touch. We have all sorts of metal items packed into the space. It is a bit of a tight squeeze sometimes when a lot of people come in at once to browse. We have been part of this district for a while. The shop smells like iron and copper, which is a scent you get used to after a few days of working here. We open up early because the mountain air is fresh then.
