Ajanta Ispat (P) Ltd.

Our place, Ajanta Ispat (P) Ltd., is located on Dhanu Bhakt Sarani over in Gurung Nagar. It’s a busy little area near Post Pradhan Nagar here in the Darjeeling district. If you’ve ever walked around these parts, you know the roads can get a bit narrow and crowded when the delivery trucks try to pass each other. We deal with iron and steel mostly. The air up here is a bit different than down in the plains, and sometimes the dampness from the mist makes the metal feel cold to the touch. We spend our days checking the inventory and making sure the orders are ready for the local builders. It’s a family-run kind of feeling here, even if the name sounds a bit more formal. There’s always someone stopping by to chat or ask about a specific size of rod. We have a small office where we keep the ledgers, but most of the action happens out in the yard. When it rains, which happens quite a bit around here, we have to move things under the corrugated sheets pretty quickly. It’s a lot of physical labor, dragging heavy pieces around and making sure everything is counted right. We’ve been part of this neighborhood for quite a while now and most people know where to find us if they need something for their construction projects. It is a simple, honest way to spend the week.
