Marine Food Packers

We are located out at Plat No. 55 in the industrial area of Baikawpady. It’s a bit of a drive out here, but it’s where the space is for what we do. At Marine Food Packers, the day starts early, usually before the sun is even fully up. We deal with a lot of packing work, mostly seafood that comes in fresh. It can get pretty cold inside because of the refrigeration, but you get used to it after a while. The floors are usually a bit wet, and there’s always the smell of the sea in the air. It’s a noisy place with the machines running and people calling out to each other. We don't have much of a front office; mostly it's just the packing floor and a small space for the logs. We wear our boots and aprons and just get through the crates as they come in. Sometimes the deliveries are late, and we have to wait around, but that’s just the nature of the business. We’ve been in Baikawpady long enough to know most of the drivers and the other folks in the industrial zone. It’s hard work, and your back might ache by the end of the shift, but there’s a sense of satisfaction when the last truck leaves. We just keep at it day by day, making sure the crates are stacked and the labels are on straight before they go. It is simple work, but it keeps the lights on for us and everyone else here.
