Maa Durgey Steel

Talk about Jaigaon. It's near the border. Super Market area is always full of people. We deal with steel mostly. Sometimes the trucks get delayed because of the traffic near Chaupati. It’s a busy spot. We’ve been here for a bit now. The shop isn't fancy. Just piles of steel bars and some other metal things people need for building. Most days we are just moving things around or checking what’s left in the yard. It gets pretty hot here in the afternoons, so we usually have tea around four. There are a lot of other shops nearby, so it’s never quiet. People come in asking for different sizes of rods. Some know exactly what they want, others just bring a scrap of paper with some numbers on it. We try to keep things organized but with steel, it's hard to keep everything clean. The floor is usually covered in some dust. It’s just how it is in this line of work. My neighbor at the shop next door often drops by to chat while we wait for the next delivery. It's a regular life here. Nothing too exciting happens, but it keeps us busy from morning till we close up. The address is right in the middle of the market, so we see everything that goes on. The birds sometimes nest in the rafters of the shop roof and make a lot of noise in the mornings. If you live around Jaigaon, you probably know where Chaupati is already.
