We started Uvanamgiri Farmer Producer Company Limited to help out the farmers around Kovilpatti. Our office is located at No:549/3A in Kamaraj Nagar. It’s not a very big place, just a simple spot where we can meet and get our paperwork and planning done. In this part of Tuticorin, farming is what most people do, and we wanted to have a company that belonged to the farmers themselves. We deal with the day-to-day things that come up when you’re trying to sell what you grow. It’s a lot of talking to people and making sure the supplies are ready. We aren't corporate people with degrees in management; we are just people from Kamaraj Nagar who know the struggle of the fields. Sometimes the rain doesn't come when it should, and other times we have too much work to handle, but that’s how it goes. Being at 628501 means we are right in the middle of things. We keep our operations simple and don't spend money on things we don't need. It’s about making sure the farmers get a fair shake.
