You will find us at 528 Trichy Road. We are right across from the Indian Bank in Singanallur. Being on Trichy Road means it is almost always noisy. There are buses and trucks going by at all hours. At Sri Moonkambikai Traders, we have just gotten used to the sound of traffic. Our shopfront is simple and we keep things pretty basic inside. We have shelves for our ledgers and a heavy desk where the main work happens. It’s a very practical space. We don't have air conditioning, so the fans are always running at full speed during the day. People often stop by because they saw our sign while waiting at the signal. Since we are right opposite the bank, it’s a landmark people recognize easily. We start the day by sweeping the front and getting things ready for whoever might walk in. There is a rhythm to the work here that hasn't changed much over the years. We handle our trades and keep our records in big books. It’s not a digital-only office by any means. We like having things on paper where we can see them. Lunch is usually a quick affair because someone always needs something right at noon. By the end of the day, the dust from the road has settled on everything, so we do a quick wipe down and lock up. It’s hard work but it’s what we do.
