Svf Coir & Coir Peat

Over here in Gomangalampudur Village, specifically at the S.F- 437 spot in Gedimedu, we run Svf Coir & Coir Peat. Pollachi is known for its coconuts, so it made sense for us to get into the coir business. We take the husks and turn them into something useful. It’s dusty work and can be quite loud when the machines are running, but it’s what we know. The sun can be really hot out here in the open spaces of the taluk, so we try to get the heavy work done early in the morning. We aren't a giant corporation with hundreds of employees. We are just a local group working with what the land provides. Most of our days are spent checking the quality of the peat and making sure the coir is dried properly. If it rains unexpectedly, it’s a big rush to cover everything up so it doesn't get ruined. We’ve had a few close calls with that. Our setup is pretty basic, just the equipment we need and space for storage. We don't put on any acts for visitors. What you see is exactly how we work every day. It’s hard work, and your clothes end up covered in fibers by the time you go home. But there is a certain rhythm to it that feels right. We just keep producing our coir and hope the market stays steady for us. We've been doing this long enough to know the routine.
