Sri Kanthan Cement Works

Out here at 63, Kuluthupalayam Road, it’s mostly just us and the industrial noise. Sri Kanthan Cement Works is a place where things are always moving. Kurichi is a busy area and Puliyanthoppu is even busier. We have been at this spot for quite some time now. You can usually find us covered in white dust because that is just what happens when you work with cement all day. We have these big mixers that make a lot of noise. Sometimes the neighbors complain but we try to keep it down in the evenings. The trucks come in and out of the yard all day long. It’s a lot of physical work and your back definitely feels it at the end of the shift. We have a small shed where we keep our tools and take our breaks. There’s an old radio in there that mostly plays local news. We like being on Kuluthupalayam Road because it is easy for the suppliers to find us. It’s not a pretty place to look at but it is where we do our business. We don't have a website or any of that stuff. People just know us from around town. If you need something made of cement you just come to 63 and talk to one of us. We are usually there from dawn until the sun goes down. It is hard work but it is what we know.
