We’re located at A-12 in the Coimbatore Private Industrial Estate, over in the Industrial Estate Post area of Tamil Nadu. Coimbatore is a hub for this kind of engineering work, so we’re right in the middle of everything. At SRE SENTHIL ENGINEERING COMPANY, the day starts pretty early to beat the worst of the afternoon heat. The shop is a large warehouse-style building with a high roof, which helps a bit with the air circulation. We have several different types of lathes and milling machines set up in rows. Most of the workers here have been doing this for decades, so they can practically operate the machines with their eyes closed, though of course they don't. There’s a lot of chatter in the local language throughout the day, mixed with the clanking of metal and the hum of the motors. We don’t really have a front desk; usually, if someone comes by, they just walk up to whoever looks the least busy. We handle a lot of different engineering tasks, mostly stuff that requires a lot of precision and heavy-duty equipment. The floor is stained with oil in places where the older machines sit, and we have piles of scrap metal in bins waiting to be hauled away. It’s a practical, no-nonsense environment where we focus on getting the orders out the door. It's just how we've always operated here in Coimbatore, through the busy seasons and the slow ones.
