S. S. Farms

S. S. Farms is tucked away at Panai Mara Thottam in the Perur area, specifically A. Goundanur. It’s a bit of a trek to get out here, but it's worth it for the space and the soil. We are a small farm operation, doing things the way they’ve been done around here for quite a while. We grow what the season allows and look after the livestock we have. It’s not a glamorous job. You’re up before the sun most days, and you don’t stop until it’s dark. We don't have a big marketing team or a fancy website. We just have our hands and the land. Sometimes the crops don't do as well as we'd hoped, and other times we have more than we know what to do with. That’s just farming. We keep the place as tidy as a working farm can be, which isn't saying much. There's always a tractor that needs a part or a fence that a goat broke. We don't mind the work, though. It’s good to be outside and see things grow from nothing. People from the nearby village stop by to buy things directly or just to have a chat under the trees. We’re just regular folks trying to make a go of it on this patch of earth.
