Maxprint Engineers

Maxprint Engineers is over at No.83 on Athipalayam Road. It’s a simple building, nothing special to look at from the outside. We’ve got a couple of big machines that take up most of the floor space, so you have to watch where you walk so you don't trip over a cable. Our work is mostly focused on the engineering side of printing equipment. People bring us their broken parts, and we try to get them back in working order. It’s not always easy. Some of the newer machines have too many electronics that we don't always like dealing with, but we manage. The air in here usually smells like a mix of lubricant and old metal. We keep the main shutter open most of the day to let some light in, as the bulbs we have aren't very bright. Athipalayam Road gets a lot of trucks, so there’s always dust blowing in, which means we have to wipe everything down constantly. We aren't really the type to use big words or try to impress anyone. If you come in, we’ll just tell you what we think about your machine and how much it might cost to fix. We don't always get it right on the first try, but we keep at it until it works. It's a steady life. We close up when the sun goes down and head home, then come back and do it all again the next day. Sometimes we find old gears that just need cleaning.
