Maruthum Collective Farming Farmers Producer Company Limited is based out of Kullampalayam. Our office is at D. No. 486 in Balamurugan Nagar. Most of us here grew up in Erode and we have been farming these lands for as long as we can remember. It gets quite hot in Tamil Nadu around this time, but we keep going because that is what we know. A few years ago, we decided that working separately wasn't really helping anyone with the costs of seeds and fertilizers. So, we got together to form this company. It is basically just a way for us to pool what we have. Sometimes we meet at the office to discuss what crops are doing well or how to handle the irrigation when the water levels are low. We handle things like selling the produce together so we can get a slightly better price than what a single person would get. It is not always easy and there are many days where we just sit around trying to figure out the paperwork, which is quite a lot for people like us. We don't have any big corporate office with glass walls or anything like that. It is just a simple place in Gobichettipalayam where we store some of our stuff and keep the records. We try to help the younger guys who are just starting out because the farming business can be pretty rough if you are on your own. It is just a group of local people trying to make a living and keep our farms going for another year.
