Kodanthur Moringa Farmer Producer Company Limited

Our place is at 5/112, Andikattu Thottam, which is part of the Udayampalayamkodanthur area. It’s a bit of a mouthful to say the name of the place but everyone around here just calls it the thottam. We focus on moringa because that’s what grows well in our soil and most of the farmers in the group have been doing it for many years now. The office is basically just a spot where we can get together and talk about the trees and the harvest cycles. It stays pretty quiet out here compared to the main town which is nice for getting work done without too many distractions. We have a lot of boxes and bags coming in and out depending on the time of year. Sometimes the smell of the leaves is really strong when we are processing things or getting them ready for the trucks. We aren't trying to be some huge company with a fancy headquarters. We just want to make sure the farmers in Kodanthur have a place to organize their sales and get things done. Most of the people working here are from the nearby houses and we all help out when it’s time to get the moringa ready for transport. Sometimes we sit in the shade of the trees during our lunch break and just talk about the weather and how it’s going to affect the next crop. It’s a simple life and the work is hard but it’s what we know best in this village.
